City Economic Development Initiatives

T2 Technology Squared
The Technology Squared Initiative (T2) is the city's most comprehensive job creation program. Beginning in 2004, our committee has been meeting to chart the course for high-skill / high-wage job creation. The T2 mission is to coordinate the vision, complete the planning, and facilitate the financing of this economic development initiative.

While it is important to continue to support and grow our industrial base, future job growth will come, in part, from the transition of traditional jobs into the jobs of an information based, technology driven environment. T2 is made up of two comprehensive and complimentary developments linked together with broadband infrastructure.

The techVillage combines the advantages of a near-downtown urban setting and the redevelopment of vacant and underutilized property within the City as well as a small business incubator.

The techFarm offers a suburban business park setting where technology businesses can grow and prosper including a proposed R&D Testing and Commercialization Center, and state of the art Training Facility.

In conjunction with these two developments, efforts are underway to aggressively implement a broadband strategy that will bring fiber optic cable into the area via the MCmetroNet project, in cooperation with the Saint Joseph Valley MetroNet in South Bend.

The Technology2 Initiative offers a comprehensive set of economic and community development strategies that will guide Plymouth's long term economic growth.

LifePlex
The recently completed LifePlex Center for Health and Fitness is the culmination of 25 years of dreams and the hard work of Dr. Byron and Mary Holm. The City of Plymouth provided financial assistance to the project in the form of a tax abatement on a portion of the project. The LifePlex will become a cornerstone of our proposed certified technology business park at the Pine Road corridor.

Zentis
Zentis Food Solutions North America, completed a multi state search for their first venture into North America with the purchase of a 200,000 sq. ft. building in Plymouth. Zentis will process fruit for the dairy and bakery industries, when production begins in the fall of 2007. Zentis, established in 1893 in Germany, will provide quality job opportunities and invest about 50 million dollars in this flagship plant.

Hoosier Tire & Rubber
Hoosier Tire & Rubber has become one of the city's largest and best employers. Hoosier has expanded several times in recent years with the help of the City of Plymouth and the State of Indiana. Each expansion has increased the investment and resulted in significant quality job creation. Hoosier is a world-class tire manufacturer in a world-class city.

Lowes
The addition of Lowe's to our business community, was made possible by the tireless work of the City of Plymouth. Numerous last minute hurdles had to be overcome to make this store a reality. The city, as a result of this project, was able to connect N. Oak Rd and Western Ave. with the Pilgrim Lane extension. Lowe's is a quality employer of area residents.
